- To - commemorate the work of - Benjamin Glennie - Pioneer Clergyman - of the Darling Downs - Incumbent of Moreton Bay - and Darling Downs - 1848 ~ 1850 - Incumbent - of the Darling Downs - with Residence at Drayton - 1850 ~ 1860 - Rector of Warwick 1860 ~ 1872 - Rector of Drayton 1872 ~ 1876.
- On this site - stood the slab of - St Matthew - Dedicated Jan 23, 1859 - Directly opposite stood - the first church building - on the Darling Downs a combined parsonage and - church where services - were held, - Nov 14.1851 to Jan 23.1859.
- This memorial - was dedicated by the - Ven Archdeacon - W P Glover - March 31, 1940 - as part of the celebration - of the centenary of the - Darling Downs. - E H Smith BA ~ Rector - G R Parker, H E Luck ~ Church Wardens.
