Protomartyr - to the Glory of God and in memory of - Most Rev R Dunne DD - First Archbishop of Brisbane - was blessed and laid by his Successor - Most Rev J Duhig DD - on 3rd October 1920. Another stone records: This stone marks the extension - of the Cathedral - and - commemorates its dedication on - 4th December 1989 - F R Rush DD - Archbishop of Brisbane. A stone on St Stephens Capel records: St Stephens Chapel was dedicated - on 5th February 1999 - by - J A Bathersby DD Archbishop of Brisbane - marking its restoration for liturgical use.
