This is the third Catholic Church built in Innisfail, the others succumbing to cyclones. Photographs uploaded 30/10/2016.

A plaque records: Centenary of the Parish of - Innisfail, Mourilyan and - South Johnstone - 1898-1998 - In gratitude to all who served - The Parish of Geraldton/Innisfail - especially - The Good Samaritan Sisters 1903-1992 - The Marist Brothers 1938-1983 - The Augustinian Fathers 1898-1993 - Mother of Good Counsel Church - Blessed and opened 1928 - replaced two wooden churches - which faced Owen Street and - destroyed by cyclones in 1906 & 1918. - Father Michael Clancy O S A  first parish priest - appointed 1898 - died in 1931 while still parish priest - and is buried within the church - we now reap the harvest of their sowing - Good Counsel Primary School - Parents and Friends Association.
