Foundation stone records: To the Glory of God - and in the name of the Blessed Trinity - this foundation stone of - St Andrews Church Lutwyche - was laid by Edward Castell Osborn - (Rector 1890-1920) - on the 29th November 1925 - Arthur Harold Osborn MA Rector -J H Charity , G E Poole - Wardens - H M Robinson Chairman of Building Committee.

A number of significant Memorial Plaques are present in the church. One of the founder records: In Affectionate Rememberance - of - Alfred James Peter Lutwyche - the first judge of the Supreme Court of the Colony - and founder of St Andrew's Church Lutwyche - Born 26th Feb 1810. Died 12th June 1880. - also his beloved wife - Mary Ann Jane - Born 7th Sept 1816. Died 6th Jan 1891- "Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord".

Lych Gate plaque on the left hand side records: To the Glory of God - and in honour of those of the - Parish of Lutwyche - who gave their lives - for the Empire - in the Great War - 1914-1918 - This is followed by a list of 49 names. A further plaque is on the right hand side but no record of detail.

Comments

An earlier church was opened on the site on St Andrews Day 30/11/1866. The present church was opened on 8/8/1926 by the Bishop of Brisbane, Bishop Le Franu in the presence of the Governor-General Lord Stonehaven and Lady Stonehaven, and a crowd of 2,000 people. St Andrews celebrated 140 years of faith on the 28-29/10/2006.
