The former Mackay Methodist Church property is now owned by The Salvation Army, and used for one of its stores. The Methodist Church used this site from about 1880 to 1980. The foundation stone of the present building was laid in June 1923 after the original building was destroyed in the 1918 Cyclone. The new church building was named after Charles Green, the founder of the Primitive Methodist Church in Mackay. The first Methodist Church meetings were held in his home.
The final service was held in the church building (by then a part of the Uniting Church) on 22/8/1982.
More historical information/photographs of the former church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 3/12/2018.
