St John the Baptist Anglican Church

The St John the Baptist Anglican Church, Richmond is in the Richmond Ministry Unit and the Diocese of North Queensland. The church began in North Queensland about 1878, with the Bush Brotherhood of St James ministering in the Richmond distict from the early 1900s. It was not however until July 1909 that the church building, erected on land donated by Mr Thomas Cox, was opened and dedicated by Bishop Frodsham. Earlier services being held in various venues, including the local hotel and the Court House. Fences and improvements were made to the property in the 1950s.
