The formation of the congregation of St Paul's dates from 23/8/1863, under the guidance of Rev Matthew McGavin, who had recently arrived from Scotland. The congregation originally met in a wooden building until a handsome stone structure was constructed in Creek Street in 1876. However, due to the heavy demand by businesses for prime commercial sites, the congregation was persuaded to sell this property in 1885. The present church building in Spring Hill was subsequently built and opened in 1889.
More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation is invited. Photographs uploaded 23/10/2016.
