A heritage plaque records: Proston Heritage Trail - St Peter's Anglican Church - Built with a bequest from Charles Shepherd - opened and consecrated on 3 July 1958 - designed in the interwar romanesque style it is an - outstanding example of church design for its - period and location. The massing and high quality - brickwork are features of the design which show - European Scandinavian influences. The church - also significant for the way it was designed for - the climate through the use of an unusual - ventilation system - Architects Fowell, McConnell and Mansfield in - association with Lucas and Cummings - Entered in the Register of the National Estate - 30.05.1995. |

Comments
The former St Peter's Anglican Church, Poston property was deconsecrated in November 2015, and is now listed for sale. It was built in 1936 with the support of a generous bequest from Charles Shepherd, owner of the cattle property, "Ashton". It was dedicated by Archbishop Wand on 4/7/1938.
The Tingoora Anglican Church was moved to Proston in 1969 to become the Church Hall.
