A plaque on the priest's chair records: In Memory of - Mary Rutledge - and her daughter Ruth - known so well and - loved in this district - presented by her family - relatives and many friends. A plaque underneath a picture of Mary MacKillop records: This picture - was blessed and hung - on the feast of - Mary MacKillop (08.08.95) - in the year of - her beatification. He is now the city's patron. Finnbarr was baptised 'Lochan' but was called 'Fionnbharr', whitehead, because of his fair hair. The name 'Barry' is derived from Finnbarr. The St Finbarr's Catholic Church, Quilpie is in the Parish of Quilpie and the Diocese of Toowoomba. The present church building was opened on 9/11/1976 by the Bishop of Toowoomba, and replaced an earlier wooden structure.
