Comments
The St Peter's Anglican Church, Normanton is part of the Southern Gulf of Carpentaria Ministries of the Diocese of North Queensland. The first Anglican service in the district was held in the Normanton School of Arts, in September 1885. The first church building was erected in the 1890s, but was significantly damaged in a storm in 1937. However, after repair it continued to serve the community until it was demolished in the 1950s due to termite damage. The present church building replaced the original structure in the 1950s, with materials reclaimed from the earlier building where possible1.
