The first Lutheran Church service in the Darling Downs was held on 1/1/1859 by Pastor C Schirmeister.
On 2/1/1859 the decision was made to establish the first congregation in Toowoomba, it was names St Paul's and St Luke's. This was the beginning of this church.
The first church building was erected on a government land grant on the corner of Geddes and Philip Streets in 1861. It was constructed from slabs cut from nearby treets and roofed with shingles.
By 1877 a larger church building was needed. It was construcred of brick on more land purchased at the cormer of Philip and Eton Streets. It was opened on 25/12/1877.
The third and current church building was dedicated on 21/6/1959. (Refer www.stpaulstoowoomba.org.au accessed 17/3/2017).
