The congregation first met in 1869 in the Buffalo Hotel. The first church was built in 1870, on land donated by Rev R Creyke, for the construction of a church dedicated to the memory of his son, Robert, who died in 1869.
This church building was destroyed by a gale in 1874 and a new timber church was erected. It was opened by Archdeacon Glennie on Trinity Sunday 1875.
On 11/12/1929 the second Holy Trinity church building was destroyed by fire.
The present church building was opened on 4/10/1930.
