Heritage plaque records: Uniting Church & Cemetery - Possibly the oldest of its kind in Queensland, this church was built in 1875 as a Primitive Methodist Church. This branch of Methodism emphasised simplicity in worship and practice, resulting in chapels, devoid of decoration or ornamentation. - Methodist services were conducted in Caboolture homes as early as 1868 by local preachers. Reverend Joseph Buckle began regular monthly services in 1871. - In 1872, the congregation purchased land on the opposite side of the road from this site and erected a small bark church. The first burials took place there. - In 1874, George Gibbings donated five acrers of land on which the current church was built in 1875. - The first service took place on 9 November 1875 and the church has been used for worship since that time, becoming part of the Uniting Church in 1977. - One of the oldest in Queensland, the cemetery dates from 1874 and is recognised for its importance to social history researchers. Many pioneering families of Upper Caboolture are buried within it, some shown by marble headstones and one of the graves has a timber monument, however, many graves are unmarked. - The trees on the western side of the cemetery are representative of the original vegetation along the ridge.
