The Barmera Uniting Church, (now part of the Berri Barmera Uniting Church) had its genesis on 24/9/1919 when the Parkin Congregational Mission agreed to undertake work at Lake Bonney (now Barmera), at the request of the Co-operative Committee of the Congregational, Methodist, Presbyterian and Baptist Churches. On the 7/1/1920 a Marquee for the church arrived, but was later blown into Lake Bonney. On 18/2/1920 the Tailem Bend Congregational Church building and furnitue was transported to Lake Bonney and erected for use as the church building. On 4/2/1922 the Rev George Rayner laid the foundation stone for the present church building. It was opened on 9/9/1922 by Charles Walter Rutt, the building architect, with the Rev W Penry Jones as preacher and Rev A G McCullough the minister of the church. More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 24/2/2019.
