Clayton Wesley Uniting Church

The Clayton Wesley Uniting Church, Beulah Park (formerly Kensington) had it beginnings in 1844, where services began in a private home, then a local Independent Chapel and later in larger premises in Maesbury Street. Following a split in the congregation in 1853, the breakaway group established services in a hall in Bridge Street. This group purchased land for a church building in 1855,  and opened a church debt free on 13/4/1856, known as Clayton Chapel.  Due to growth in the congregation a larger church building was erected and opened on 17/5/1883, in front of the existing building. In April 1973 the Norwood Wesley Methodist and the Clayton Congregatonal Churches merged, four years before the formation of the Uniting Church. In 2000 the St Morris Uniting Church congregation amalgamated with the Clayton Wesley congregation.
