Comments

The former Port Pirie Uniting Church closed about 1991, and the property was sold (1998?). The church had been part of the Generate Presbytery of the Uniting Church Synod of South Australia. The building was originally opened on 9/2/1879 for the Congregational Church, and was the first stone church building in Port Pirie. It replaced an earlier wooden structure opened on 6/2/1876, which had become too small for the congregation. An addition to the front of the building was completed in 1900, and internal porch additions in 1977. The church joined with the local Methodist Church in 1968 to create a Union Parish, which became part of the Uniting Church in 1977. More historical information/photographs of the former church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 22/1/2024 & 1/3/2025.
