A plaque on a Cross topped Cairn records: Saint Martin's Catholic Church - This monument commemorates the founding - of the Catholic Church in Redhill - The corner stone and cross are from - the original church building - 1876 ~ 1986. - The new church was blessed and opened by - Most Reverend F Peter DeCampo - Bishop of Port Pirie - on 31st August 1986.

Comments

The St Martin's Catholic Church, Redhill is part of St Mark's Cathedral Parish and the Diocese of Port Pirie. The original church building was opened in 1876, and blessed by the Archbishop of Adelaide, The Most Rev M Beovich DD Ph D, on the 5/1/1941 after being remodelled, renovated and extended. This building was replaced by the current structure on 31/8/1986. The church cemetery is located near the church. More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited.
