The St Michael's Lutheran Church, Hahndorf stands at the physical and spiritual centre of the original village established in 1839. The first Lutheran church was built here in 1840. After the current church was built around it in 1858/59, the original church was demolished. The original church was a wooden structure. The current church was dedicated on 3/7/1859.
