The foundations stone was laid by Mr Oldham on July 16, 1867. The church was opend in November of the same year and dedicated in 1868, the cost of the chapel was 320 pounds; other Bible Christian churches in the Kapunda Circuit were located at Springfield, Butchers Gap, and Hamilton. The church became Wesleyan about 1890 due to the Bible Christian church being unable to keep going due to the lack of funds; so the Marrabel Church came under the Kapunda Methodiist Circuit. In the 1960s the church transferred to the Riverton Circuit. Sunday school was held in 1886 and again in the late 1900s, in the late 1920s, early 1930s and in the 1950s; some Anglican children attended. On June 22, 1977 the Methodist Church became known as the Uniting Church of Australia due to the amalgamation of the Methodist, Presbyterian and Congregational Churches.
