An historic plaque records: The congregation of the Loxton Evangelic Lutheran Church began their worship in the home of John Drabsch in 1897 and Pastor L E Kuss made the Two-day horse-and-buggy trip from Mannum every 3 months to conduct services. In 1904 the first St Peter's Church was built and is still used as a hall. - The manse was bult in 1910 at a cost of 800 pounds and Pastor M Kuss, son of Pastor L E Kuss, became the first resident minister. Eventuallly the growing parish required a larger church and construction of the existing church began in 1925 using local limestone quarried by the congregation. A plaque on the original church today records: St Petri - Hall - 1904. |
