The former Laura Lutheran, Easter Church closed in 2000, and the property is now privately owned. Lutheran services began in Laura in the early 1880s, conducted by Pastor Kaibel of Appila. By 1903 Laura had become a separate congregation and began worshipping in the Primitive Methodist Chapel, which had opened on 29/3/1874, and closed in 1898. The Laura Lutheran congregation purchased the former Primitive Methodist Chapel in 1904, but demolished it in 1909 to erect the present church building, which was dedicated on 1/8/1909.
On 1/8/2000 the congregation relocated to the Redeemer Lutheran Church (see separate entry - 5480). More historical information/photographs of the former church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 22/05/2016.
