The St Mark's Catholic Cathedral is part of the Cathedral Parish (including St Anthony's - Solomontown; Holy Trinity - Crystal Brook: St Martin's - Redhill) and the Diocese of Port Pirie (formerly Port Augusta). The cathedral is the seat of the Bishop of Port Pirie. A church has existed on this site since 1875, with a more permanent structure erected about 1881, which was extended and completed in the 1900s. Unfortunately this building was destroyed by fire on 21/10/1947. The present building was erected in its place as the Cathedral church of the Diocese of Port Pirie. It was opened and blessed on 1/3/1953 by Cardinal Gilroy of Sydney, a former Bishop of the Diocese1. More historical information/photographs of the cathedral/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 21/1/2024.
