The former Trinity Lutheran Church, Neales Flat amalagmated with the St Stephan's Lutheran Church, Neales Flat to form the Neales Flat Lutheran Church about 1982 (see separate entry - 5374). Its services being held in the former St John's church building, which was reconsecrated.
The former St Paul's Lutheran Church, Neales Flat amalgamated, after the formation of the Lutheran Church of Australia in 1966, with the St John's Lutheran Church, Neales Flat, to form the Trinity Lutheran Church, meeting in the former St Paul's building.
The first St Paul's church building was opened and dedicated on 18/10/1874, also serving for a period as a school. A larger St Paul's church building was erected next door and dedicated on18/11/1893, to meet the needs of the growing congregation.
In 1895 due to disputes within the Evangelical Lutheran Synod of Australia (ELSA), St Paul's became an independent congregation. Some members of the congregation disagreed and formed the separate St John's Lutheran Church, aligned to the ELSA, on the same site. The dispute was deep enough to lead to the fencing off of sections in the adjoing cemetery.
More historical information/photographs of the former church/congregation(s) are invited. Photographs uploaded 2/11/2024.
