A plaque on the front wall records: This plaque was unveiled by the Bishop of Willochra, The Right Rev. Bruce Rosier, - on October 22nd 1978 - To Commemorate the Centenary of - the opening of the first Church of England building in Stansbury -  by The Dean of Adelaide, The Very Rev. Alexander Russell - on October 20th 1878. - The Foundation Stone of this present church was laid by Archdeacon George Dove - on August 25th 1897 - The Church was licensed for worship and opened by - The Bishop of Adelaide, The Right Rev. John Reginald Harmer - on October 6th 1898.

The St Augustine of Canterbury Anglican Church, Stansbury is part of the Anglican Ministry District of Yorke Peninsula and the Diocese of Willochra. The present church building was opened on 6/10/1898, by The Right Rev J R Harmer, Bishop of Adelaide. It replaced an earlier wood and iron structure opened on 20/10/1878. No other details are known.
