The former St Philip and St James Anglican Church, Old Noarlunga property is now closed and listed for sale. The foundation stone was laid by Bishop Short in March 1850. The building was dedicated in May 1852. In 1863 improvements and extensions were made to the sanctuary, chancel and vestry, and the earthen floor was covered with slate flagging. The windows, formerly covered in hessian, were glazed with lead-lights and the roof was re-slated. Over the subsequent years further restorations and additions were carried out. For almost 168 years this has been a place of worship for the local Anglican community. A cemetery is adjacent to the church with the earliest grave dated 1852.
The congregation of St Philip and St James is now worshipping at St Margaret's, McLaren Vale.
More historical information/photographs of the former church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 16/11/2018.
