The former Robe Methodist Church property is now privately owned.
It was the fourth church in Robe, when the foundation stone was laid at 3pm on September 14 1868. it was opened on New Years Day 1869. The State Council of Education purchased the church/school for 300 pounds in 1875 and established it as a Governmment School until it became too small. A new school was built and opened in 1886. In 2005 the church building was purchased by a private owner.
"After 1886..widely the belief is: the church once again became the home of the Methodists, and certainly in the latter years this was the case. Maybe Robe residents remember attending services and the younger ones Sunday School in the buulding! However early records for this period have proven to be elusive, so statement of the church being used only by the Methodists during this extensive period is conjecture'. This information was taken from notes on a display, of the history of Robe, in the Local Library. Visited 7/1/2020.
More historical information/photographs of the former church/congregation are invited. Photogrphs uploaded 1/2/2020.
