The former Sellicks Hill Uniting Church closed in 1968, re-opened about 1983 and finally closed in December 1992. The property is now privately owned. The congregation joined with the Alinga and Wilinga Uniting Churches. The Wesleyan Methodist Church opened on 9/2/1862, and was one of the first local public buildings in the district. The Sellicks Hill Uniting Church Cemetery is located next the the old church building.
“The chapel is exceedingly neat, being built in the Gothic style. It is 20 feet by 30 feet inside, and 16 feet walls from the floor to the wall-plate. There are three windows on each side, and two blank windows in front. Above the front gable there is a very chaste spire. . . Mr. Hubble made all the furniture, and deserves much praise for the finished manner in which has done his work.” [Register 24 Feb 1862]
“The object of the jubilee celebration was to raise money for the renovation of the outside of the church. Six persons who attended the opening service 50 years ago attended. Among those who have done good work in connection with the church are Mrs. B Lovelock, jun., who for some time acted as organist, and Miss Amy Smith, who held that position for 15 years; also Mr. S. Smith, who for 19 years was Sunday school superintendent and church treasurer.” [Advertiser 13 Feb 1912]
