The St Mary the Virgin Anglican Church, Wallaroo is part of the Copper Coast Anglican Community (with Christ Church, Kadina and All Saints' Moonta) and the Diocese of Willochra. Early Anglican services were held in a paling shed among bales of hay and other merchandise, then later in a school room. The present church building was opened about 1864 (possibly 1862?), and after transepts were added, the church was consecrated on 17/9/1871 by Bishop Short. The church and the building were largely instigated and supported by John Sheperdson and Capt Hay two local pioneers. The church hall was opened in 1916. More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 10/3/2025.
