Comments

The former Wallaroo Methodist Church closed on 12/7/1978, and the property was sold. The earlier Wesleyan Methodist Church became part of the Methodist Church at Union in 1900, and part of the Uniting Church in 1977. After the church closed the congregation amalgamated with the Wallaroo Uniting Church (see separate entry - 5556). The original Wesleyan Methodist church building was erected in 1882/3 and opened on 12/7/1883. The first chapel on the site was of wood and calico and opened on 8/12/1861, and had been erected on land donated by Mr Walter Watson Hughes. It was replaced by the current building, with the original wooden church sold to the local Congregational Church for forty pounds. A Sunday School Hall was built in 1910. More historical information/photographs of the former  church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 1/11/2016 & 18/3/2021.
