An information board records:  Wauraltee Church - 1876 ~ 1964 - Wauraltee Methodist Church. David Duthie gave the land for the Church opened by Rev R Kelly on 26th November 1876. Constructed of timber and iron at a cost of 34 Pound. The Church was almost debt free after the 'tea meeting and musical entertainment' held on the following day, according to the treasurer, J C Leonard. - The building was enlarged a few years later to accommodate a larger congregation that required 'further sitting accommodation'. Sunday School was conducted regularly by Mr & Mrs Williss. - A stone building which remains to this day was erected in 1882 and served as a house of worship until 1951. Following the closure of the school in 1946, it was inevitable that the church would close. - The Home Mission Dept received the furnishings, whilst the sale of the property and closure of the books were recorded in July 1964.

The former Wauraltee Methodist Church closed in 1951, with the sale of the property concluded in 1964. The first church  building was a wooden structure opened on 26/11/1876 for the Wesleyan Methodist Church. It was replaced by a larger stone structure, to meet the needs of the growing congregation, and was opened in 1882. No other details are known. More historical information/photographs of the former church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 18/3/2025.
