A foundation stone records: To the Greater Glory of God - This stone was laid by - Archdeacon Atkinson - August 5th 1931 - Rev. H.C. Cuthbertson. Rector.

A notice at the site recorded: Former St Oswalds Church - Frederick Wilbraham Ford of Marrawah gifted this land [May 1919] for the purpose of erecting a church building as a Memorial to those residents of Marrawah who lost their lives in the Great War 1914 ~ 1918. - The church known as St Oswald's was erected and consecrated on the site and the building remains a Memorial to those residents of the Marrawah district who lost their lives.

The former St Oswald's Anglican Church, Marrawah is now closed, and the property was sold in November 2016. The church had been part of the Diocese of Tasmania. The earliest Anglican services in the distict are believed to have been held about 1898, with regular services held from 1907.The present church building was erected as a Memorial church to those residents from the district who lost their lives in the Great War 1914-18. The church building was dedicated on 21/11/1931 by the Bishop of Tasmania, and held its final service in November 2015.
