The Wynyard Uniting Church is part of the Presbytery of Tasmania and the Uniting Church Synod of Victoria & Tasmania. The present church building was opened on 12/2/1922, and replaced the earlier wooden United Free Methodist Church building. The original United Free Methodist church building was opened 3/11/1878, at a site near Wynyard railway station. This building was moved twice, to different sites in Dodgin Street, before being located to the present site, and then moved to the rear of the site to make way for the 1922 building (the original building still exists, though very significantly modified). The Wesleyan Methodist Church did not have a building of its own, holding its services in the Town Hall. However, after the Union of the various Methodist churches in 1902, it formed a single congregation in the United Free Methodist building. After It became too small, the present building was erected, although a new facade has been added to it. More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 5/5/2023.
