The Scottsdale Uniting Church is part of the Presbytery of Tasmania and the Uniting Church Synod of Victoria & Tasmania. The first Methodist church building in the district was erected at Springfield in 1870, with the earliest Scottsdale services being held in the Ellesmere Union Chapel. The first Methodist Church built for Scottsdale was in Listers Road, Ellesmore and opened on 9/3/1879. A shift in the population from Ellesmere to Scottsdale led to the activities of the church being divided between the two centres. Church services being held in Ellesmere and Sunday School being held in the Mechanics Institute, in King Street, Scottsdale. In 1888 the Ellesmere church was closed, the property sold and services held in the local school. Unfortunately this building was destroyed by a fire in January 1900. The present church building was erected as a replacement, in 1901. More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 28/4/2023.
