The St Helen & St Stanislaus Catholic Church, St Helens is part of the Parish of St Marys and the Diocese of Hobart. Records of the beginnings of Catholic worship in St Helens are poor, but it is believed they began in the 1860s, with the first woden church building being opened in the 1870s, in Quail Street. The present church building, after many years of fundraising and planning, was opened on 5/3/1922 by Archbishop Barry. In 1934 memorial stained glass windows were installed, and in 1988 additional pioneer memorial stained glass windows were added and the building was extended and the entrance moved. A cemetery in the church grounds has closed, and the remaining headstones have been placed along the back fence. More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 7/5/2023.
