The former St Paul's Uniting Church, New Norfolk held its final thanksgiving service on 22/11/2020, before closing, after almost 185 years of service. The property was sold in December 2022. The church was part of the Presbytery of Tasmania and the Uniting Church Synod of Victoria & Tasmania. The earliest Methodist services in the district was held from about 1821 in settlers homes, with regular services held from 1834. These services were held under a gum tree, in the New Norfolk Inn and the Court House before the erection of a church building. A church building on a site donated by Sir Robert Officer was begun in 1835, and completed in October 1836, although it was not officially opened and dedicated until Thursday 2/11/1837, by the Rev Joseph Orton. More historical information/photographs of the former church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 9/6/2023.
