The St John the Baptist Anglican Church, Ouse is part of the Parish of Hamilton and the Diocese of Tasmania. The building was erected in 1842/3, on land granted by Walter Angus Bethune of 'Dunrobin'. Construction was fully funded by the parishioneers, with no assistance from the government. Although opened for services in 1843, the church was not consecrated until 9/5/1867, along with the cemetery, by Bishop Bromby.  The cemetery is located near the church.
