The Ashburton Baptist Church is a member of the association of churches known as the Baptist Union of Victoria. The Ashburton Baptist fellowship began in 1929 with 20 people. A timber church building was erected in 1934, in Marquis Street, and the fellowship constituted as a church proper. The church continued to grow and a new church building was opened in 1959 at the present site. Since that time more additions have been made to the building to meet the needs of the church's activities. The church will celebrate its 90th anniversary in October 2024.1.
