Foundation stone for the present building records: To the Glory of God - in memory of the men of this congregation who gave their lives - in the Wars of 1914~1918 & 1939~1945, this stone was laid by - Lieut-General The Hon Sir Edmund Herring - KCMG KBE DSO MC ED Chief Justice & Lieut Governor of Victoria - 11th November 1956. - This stone from the old Greyfriars Church Edinburgh - It binds the present with a still living past ~ Those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice - Ps 50 v 5 A plaque records: St Leonard's Uniting Church - Memorial Garden - This rose garden - contains the ashes of - those parishioners who have - chosen this garden as their - final resting place. |
