An historical plaque records: St Mary's Anglican Church - The foundation stone for St Mary's was laid on 6th of April 1881 by the Right Reverend S Thornton, Bishop of Ballarat, with the first service being held on 9th of September 1881. The church was buit and furnished for a cost of approximately 350 [pounds]. A new building was constructed in 1961 with the foundation stone laid on the 25th March of that year...was built to accommodate a growing congregation. The original church was then used as a meeting room. Since 2013 the Anglican Church has offered hospitality to the Uniting Church congregatuion for their services. A stone tablet records: To the Glory of God - in memory of those who served - in Two World Wars. - This memorial stone was laid by - William, Sixth Bishop of Ballarat - on March 25th 1961. |
