Local historical plaque records: St John's Church of England: From 1886, services were originally held in an empty residence and then at the Colbinabbin West School, until it moved to the nearby Colbinabbin West hall. The current church was built in 1896 on land donated by Mr Dave Andrews. A plaque on the gate records: To the Glory of God - and in Memory of - Chaplain C H Patmore - Killed in action at Ambon - 15th February 1943 - 'Faithful unto death.'

The St John's Anglican Church, Colbinabbin is part of the Parish of Elmore and the Diocese of Bendigo. The present church building was erected in 1896.
