The former North Geelong Presbyterian Church, Rippleside is now closed, and the property has been sold. The church had its genesis when a discussion in 1909 began to canvas redistribution of local Presbyterian Churches to cater for the growing suburbanisation of Geelong. This concluded that a congregation was to be established in North Geelong. A site at Melbourne Road/Liverpool Street was subsequently purchased in August 1918. (between 1915-20). The North Geelong Congregational Church building was purchased in 1918 and moved to the Melbourne Road site. After the Geelong City Council excised part of the site for road widening, a decision was made in November 1928 to purchase the present site and relocate the church buildings and the manse1. Over the years further alterations and improvements were made to the buildings to meet the needs of the congregation. When the property became too small, a decison was made to find a new site. The congregation subsequently moved to its present location/building at 12 Tarkin Court, Bell Park, about 2018.(see separate entry - 3215). More historical information/photographs of the former church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 30/10/2014.
