The Gunbower Uniting Church, held its final service on 7/7/2024, after 100 years of service to the community. The service was led by Pastor Carol Boyce and the Rev Gordon Wild and members of the Cohuna Uniting Church travelled over to offer support. The church had been part of the Presbytery of Loddon Mallee and the Uniting Church Synod of Victoria & Tasmania. The first Methodist services in Gunbower began about 1910. A church building was opened in 1914. In 1964 the church held a jubilee anniversary celebration service, followed by afternoon tea in the Memorial Hall. In 1974 the Cohuna Methodist and Presbyterian congregations joined together and became the Cohuna United Church. Gunbower at this time changed its name to the Gunbower United Church. It became part of the Uniting Church in 1977. No other details are known. More historical information/photographs of the former church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 15/2/2023.
