A heritage plaque records: Kaniva Methodist Church 1882 ~ 1977 - Kaniva Uniting Church 1977 ~ 2005 - Worship services have been conducted on this site from 1882 ~ 2005 - Early settlers met in tents or in the open air to worship God in the early days. The first church building was erected on the west side of this site in 1882, representing Bible Christian Wesleyan Methodists, later Methodist Church of Australasia. A larger Methodist Church was built in 1928 and this building continued to be used for worship as the Methodist and from 1977 as the Uniting Church. Services in the building were discontinued in 2005 and the building was demolished in 2007. Uniting Church services have continued in the Fellowship Centre as part of the Kaniva Shared Ministry. - Also on this site, a Sunday School Hall was erected in 1920 and later expanded. It was demolished in 2003 after it had fallen into disrepair. - The Wesley Fellowship Centre was opened in 1961, being used for Sunday School, youth groups, social events, and other community activities since then. It has also assumed the role of the Uniting Church worship centre under the Kaniva Shared Ministry, whereby services and ministers have been shared with the Church of Christ since 1999. - This church garden was established in 2010.
