The Lara Uniting Church is part of the Uniting Church Synod of Victoria and Tasmania. In the 1850s, a Wesleyan Methodist congregation was formed in Lara. They erectd their first church building in 1865, which is still in use. A Primitive Methodist congregation began in the home of Mr John Spalding in 1854. It established a Chapel next door to the Wesleyans. When the Wesleyan Methodists, the Primitive Methodists and the Bible Christians amalgamated in 1902, they joined together in the one building which was renovated to meet the needs of the enlarged congregation.1
A new church building was erected in 1979/80, on the existing site near the original 1865 buiiding. No other details are known. More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 10/2/2022.
