The Neil Black Presbyterian Church, Noorat is part of the Presbytery of South West Victoria.
In October, 1873 Rev S Fraser (of the Terang Charge) conducted the first service in Noorat, at the home of Mr and Mrs Carson. A Sunday School was established and a wooden church building erected in Noorat in 1874. (In 1894 services began at Glenormiston North and in 1896 the old Noorat Church building was moved there. What happened to this building no one seems to know).
The present church was built in 1893 as a memorial to Niel Black (1802-1880) by his widow Grace, and three sons.
The Niel Walter Black Memorial Sunday School and Guild Hall was built by A J Black and S G Black in memory of their younger brother who died when the "Waratah" was lost at sea in 1908.
More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 15/1/2018.
