The St James church building was then erected, with services commencing in it on 3/8/1913. The church held its final service on 9/4/2006. No other details are known. More historical information/photographs of the former church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 17/1/2018 & 30/7/2023.
Contributed by Stephen Mills: My father Alex Mills was deacon (1945-6) and priest (1946-7) at nearby Swan Marsh. He conducted his first baptism at Pomborneit North in 1944. At the end of the war a lych gate was constructed at the entrance to the church to commemorate a local soldier who had been killed in Bougainville (Charles Cooper Boyd, KIA 17/3/45 aged 22)..
