The Scots' Presbyterian Church, Portland, is the oldest surviving Presbyterian Church building in Victoria, dating from about 1849.
Early Presbyterian services were held in a private home, until the first church building was erected on a land grant from the government. However, the next minister, who arrived from Scotland, and had experienced the disruption of the Church of Scotland about 1843, would not accept any land grant from the government. The led to the present church building being erected on land donated by a Mr Cruickshank. Also after the various Presbyterian churches in Victoria joined together to form the Presbyterian Church in Victoria, the two churches in Portland united.
