Foundation stone records: This stone was laid - by the - Very Revd T J O'Connell - 16th September 1896.

A stone below the statue of Mary records: These stones are from - the - First Catholic Church - Rushworth - Blessed and opened - 11th December 1881.

A heritage plaque records: St Mary's Roman Catholic Church - This church was completed in 1897, replacing the church in Moora Road which was destroyed by fire. The commemorative stone was laid on 16th September 1896 by Father T J O'Donnell. [actual stone records- O'Connell]- Rushworth's Roman Catholic Parish was formed in 1918 with Monsignor Edward Tehan the first parish priest. Monsignor Tehan was also responsible for building the presbytery which was blessed on 13, June 1919.
