The Broome Uniting Church is part of the Kimberley Presbytery and the Uniting Church Northern Synod in Western Australia. The church had its beginnings in 1897 when Oliver Hogue reported to the Presbyterian assembly on the conditions in the states north. Plans were then commenced with land purchased in 1910, and a manse constructed. Services were conducted on the manse verandah, with the church referred to as 'Verendah Church'. The church building was erected in 1925. From 1934 to 1942 the church was staffed by Australian Inland Mission welfare officers. Ministry did not resume until 1947, and then only on a limited basis. This situation continued until 1962 when an arrangements was made with the Methodists to take control of the area, who appointed a minister, who was based in Broome but served a larger district. In 1971 The Presbyterians, Methodists and Congregationalists formed the United Church of North Australia, and the church was called the Broome United Church. It became part of the Uniting Church in 19771. More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited. Photograph uploaded 16/11/2018 & 11/5/2024.
