Foundation Stone Notes: | A stone tablet records: St Mary's Memorial Church - blessed and opened by - His Grace, Most Rev R Prendiville DD - Archbishop of Perth - on - Sunday July 12th 1964 - Architect: E Rossen - Builder: R K Ward - Rev M B Ryan PP An information board records: In the early 1900s the Catholic community was served from Kellerberrin by Father Fahey, initially on a motorbike and later in a T Model Ford. The original St Mary's Catholic Church built in 1927 was a weatherboard structure with a corrugated iron roof and situated on the corner of Parry and Westral Street. The present building opened in 1964 after a great building campaign led by Father Michael Ryan. Since 1993 the Salvatorian Order has provided the parish priests. The Presentation Convent and St Mary's School were built behind the Church in Parry Street and opened in 1954. |
